I need SLIP!
« on: July 28, 2006, 09:12:05 PM »
Please share with me your favorite conditioners with great slip.  As my hair gets longer, I can see that this will be an issue.  I'm on the hunt for one that I could buy at the store, but if its a great one it doesnt really matter.  Currently I use Devacurl One C or Jessicurl Too Shea.  But I am hoping to find something even better (and cheaper).

These work for me:
1) Elucence Moisture Balance Conditioner - don't need to use alot to get the job done.
2) Daily Defense Tender Apple Conditioner - this gives the BEST slip of EVERYTHING I've tried.  I thought it was being discontinued, but Clairol must have made like a million bottles or something, because you can still find it online: You are not allowed to view links.Register or Login
I will continue to buy and stock up on DDTA until it officially runs out.  I currently have enough to last me until the end of the year.
3) Curl Junkie's Thick & Luscious Healthy Condition - wonderful slip, detangling and moisturization.
4) Devacurl One Condition - this detangles well if I wash my hair back to back or every other day.  If I let it go longer than that then I need to bring out the big guns for easier detangling (see above).  But depending on what type of styling product I'm using, I use this as a leave-in.  It's the ONLY one that I've ever been happy with.

There.  That's my list.

HTH!  :)

Curls Asian Hair Tea Conditioner is the best conditioner out there when it comes to giving your hair slip and feeding your curls instant as well as long-term hydration! I have never found any other conditioner that I have used, be it from CurlMart, Online, or Off-the-Shelf that even compares! And you can use it with or without heat. :D

I have tried all of those except for that CJ condish I did try the slip condish).  Devacurl One C is the one tha I use now.  It has good slip...but I just think there has to be something just a little easier.  I detangle every other or every three days, but alas I still spend about 15 minutes detangling and wish I could find something that will just melt the tangles away.  I know I will still have to work at it...but I am hoping to find a condish that can really make my hair slimy...lol.

Thans for the suggestions.  Keep them coming.  Anyone try CHS Sliip Condish?

Trader Joe's Nourish Spa conditioner does the job for me.  Sometimes, I add a little Qhemet Olive Oil Detangler, which also works very well.

Of course, the Denman is the real star of my detangling sessions.

blaqpearl, this may be a stupid question, but have you tried putting some conditioner in your hair overnight, the night before you co-wash? i find it really helps cut down on detangling time in the shower. and i don't mean as much conditioner as you might use in a dt or pre-poo. i mean just enough to feel you have product in your hair.

or sometimes i put the conditioner on my dry hair before i step into the shower, then brush my teeth or pick out my outfit. then when i get in the shower, i wet my hair a little bit, add a little more conditioner, then go about my business getting clean. when i have to detangle my hair, i usually have more slip this way.
trying to catch up after being m.i.a. for 2 years. dang, there are a lot of posts!

I'm learning not to take it personally when other people's crazy is showing...it's not my problem.

I actually use shampoo to detangle my hair.  ??? (Cream of Nature in the green bottle.  Then I use Elucence poo to get rid of the build up left by the Cream of Nature.  ::)

You might wanna also try putting conditoner in your hair (maybe mixing it with a lil oil), put on a plastic cap, and sit under the dryer for 15 minutes.  Then I immediately detangle it while it's still "hot" from the steam.  Works wonders!!!   ;)

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

That's not a stupid question at all Natakue.  In fact, I read years ago how some women do this to reduce tangling time in the morning.  They still shampoo their hair though, but it's not dripping with knots.
