Maybe it is just me, but I missed the point?? What is that thing on the side of her face? So is your opinion now that it is a wig and not a weave or other?

well according to the website it's a wig.

That man is looking at her like, "OMG girl, is that all the hair you have?"  Here real hair is stressed.

She had a weave/phony ponytail in that pic... It's the angle that is making her hair look really short. I saw the other pics on LHCF.

Hate to disappoint everyone, but Beyonce does have beautiful healthy, natural hair AND she wears wigs/weaves.

My stylist has done her hair on several occassions.  She is the same stylist that did my weave for my wedding.  Beyonce chooses not to wear her hair out because with all the heat and styling changes, she would have none.

Whether or not you like her, the chick is fierce.  If I were her, I would do the same thing.  I would keep my natural, and rock the lace fronts with reckless abandon.

As an FYI, here is a pic of my two different weaves...keep in mind, I am fully natural.  Lee makes my hair look like this (and I ain't paying thousands - thank GOD we're friends), and does custom wigs and and weaves for stars.  One pays thousands to make the wig look like the hair is growing from your scalp (I say "one" because I won't/can't pay thousands for no hairdo!  By the way, sorry if the first pic offends anyone, it was my bachelorette party in Jamaica.

I agree.  If my hair had to be styled to that degree, I'd be in a weave too!

Off topic: you are way too beautiful to not be in someones magazine!   :ten:

@ Jazzi - too kind, but there's nothing like a little make-up and a good weave or wig

@ Pixie - You should be able to see them now...

But why do these stars feel they have to style their hair so such an extreme degree?  Why do the Beyonces et al. feel the need to have straight, shiny, super long honey blonde hair?  If they would just wear their hair in styles that came more naturally to them (i.e., not all flatironing, coloring, curling, etc.) their natural hair wouldn't get so abused in the process.

Natural underneath or not, I just think people like this are still playing into the good hair/bad hair, European beauty ideal stuff.  What's wrong with her own hair???  Why can't she wear her own hair???  Her own color, texture, length and curl pattern???

(I'm not yelling at anyone on here,  I just find this type of stuff to be the BS that perpetuates low self image among certain groups. >:()

@ Spiderlashes - I think you raise good points in general, but I really don't think that to be the case.  Sometimes people just want a different look.  That's almost like asking why color, or highlight, or get haircuts.

If you have healthy, beautiful natural hair (and want to keep it that way), you look for alternatives that give you options.  If you look at her look, she isn't always straight.  In addition, as a celebrity, she is delivering an image that she has created and has to maintain (good or bad, right or wrong, it is what it is).

I know for me, I had long hair before I decided to go natural, did the transition, and wanted long hair again for my wedding (it's the way my deceased father liked it and I wanted to honor him - Plus Shirley Ann (my Mother) wasn't having it any other way), but didn't want to sacrifice the health of my natural hair by straightening and adding chemicals.

I'd get another weave in a heartbeat (and just may over the summer) because it offers a healthy alternative when I start getting antsy, and want to switch it up, but at the end of the day, I still have all of my nappy hair in all of its glory.

I think you run into issues with those folks that front like weaves and wigs (of whatever texture) are their own hair (which I never have and never will understand).

Yeah, nothing wrong with mixing it up a little.  I just wish she'd show her real hair, in it's real texture once in a while, too.

Yup, then you have Tyra.  At least she will tell you she wears a weave.  She does try to keep it somewhat real.  LOL

I don't think the problem is with what you're doing; that's no different from wearing and loving your naturally curly hair, and sometimes adding a press or some braids or whatever to the mix.

I think the difference is that Beyonce knows that she HAS to wear those weaves. If she were to permanently forego the attempts at a flaxen-haired Swedish girl look, for whatever permutations of nappy her hair is capable of, her career would take a mighty hit.

For the very same reason, she did that liposuction on her thighs, and started appearing with increasingly pale pancake makeup with plenty of shading around the nose area. Given the market they are catering to, I don't expect any kind of groundbreaking from Beyonce and her dozens of knock-offs anytime soon.

Good point.  True indeed.

But wait, she had lipo?  I shouldn't be surprised.  All of LA is sucking something or another out.

Yep. Remember how full her thighs used to be back around the "Say My Name" days? A lot of people in the press got into the habit of calling her "Thunder Thighs" or somehow managing to sneak a reference to her thighs everytime the subject of Destiny's Child came up. But by the time the buildup to her solo debut was in full swing, she was suddenly svelte, including incredibly slender thighs. Seeing as the fat stored in the thigh area is the most difficult to shift regardless of diet or exercise (If I recall correctly it is stubborn because it is stored in a different form than other body fat) that was a little short of miraculous. . . So it was not exactly shocking to read those rumors. I doubt she'd admit to having work done, though. If Star Jones wouldn't. . .

I agree that she's gotten body work done.  The media gave her such a hard time for having a Black woman's figure.  Remember when she looked like this?

I completely believe this, for some reason.  In the videos I saw of her as a young girl (and even in the beginning stages of DC), that chick had some beautiful hair.
