buttery/creamy products in the summer
« on: August 03, 2006, 09:38:40 AM »
since i seriously fell off the pj-wagon this past month, i've acquired a few samples of some buttery/creamy products. i'm starting to worry about them melting in my hot hot room when i'm not there for a few days at a time (so the a/c is off). if they melt, will they no longer work well? do i have to start keeping them in the fridge? but if they solidify, will that affect how it works? will they grow mold because of the heat?  :scared:

what do you guys do with your stuff during the summer?  ???
trying to catch up after being m.i.a. for 2 years. dang, there are a lot of posts!

I'm learning not to take it personally when other people's crazy is showing...it's not my problem.

I keep them in the bathroom linen closet; which is the coolest place in my house for some reason. Maybe you could keep them in a kitchen cabinet? I personally wouldn't put a creamy product in the fridge because it may inhibit it's "spreadability."

But if that doesn't matter to you, than I guess the fridge would be the best way to keep your products from melting. I think most products have some kind of ingredient in them to keep mold and bacteria from flourishing in the heat and you can purchase little scoops to help you dispense your product without touching it with your fingers; thereby reducing the amount of pathogens introduced into the products environment.

I don't know how melting and solidifying effects product performance.

Yeah I would keep them in the dark. As long as they contain some sort of preservative they should remain mold and bacteria free. Mold likes dark and wet environments.
