CURL Ecstasy - Asian Hair Tea Conditioner
« on: February 01, 2007, 11:08:07 AM »
Great Scott!  This conditioner is awesome!!  I took my braids down last night and shampooed with MOP.  I decided to try the Curls conditioner that I ordered which was on special for half off (shoulda bought 2).  This conditioner is the absolute best conditioner I have used in my entire life.  It made my hair wikkit soft!  I wish I had the milkshake and Quenched Curls to go with it.  I give this product 5 stars!

I  this conditioner!  I stopped using it b/c I went on a pj spree, but I just got more!  This stuff makes my hair look/feel good (I used it in my current avatar).  I just wish it was a little bit cheaper b/c my thristy hair uses quite a bit. 4.5 stars

See I would give it 3 stars for deep conditioning with it full strength.

But I give it 4.5 stars  when it's diluted and I used it as a rinse or co. wash.

As a deep it was thick and it smelled nice but when I rinsed it felt a little coated but ok. The thing is though, when I get a good deep conditioner the effects last for a couple of days and my hair stays moisturized. That didn't happen with Asian Hair tea.

As a co.wash it worked fine, kind of like Elucence. Had slip, left it soft, a little buildup but nothing crazy.

My experience was similar to TroDous'.  As a deep conditioner, 3 stars and I had to use too much of it to get the job done.  I went on to use it as in a leave-in mixture and it worked very well in that mix.

I'm rating it as a deep conditioner because that's how it's marketed.  3 stars.

Meh....I give this 2 stars.  Nothing spectacular about this one at all.  I didnt like the smell and it didnt have enough slip.  Didnt give me the moisture I like.

I know this one gets raves, but I've sampled it twice now and still don't really get the glory.  It's quite thick (not a bad thing) but I had a tough time squeezing it out of the sample bottle and had to knock it on my palm many times to get the stuff out, then add some water.  I doesn't have enough slip, and takes a while to get into my hair.  I've used it as a conditioner, so maybe if I were to add heat it would do better. It's just tough to handle.

ETA - it also has a non-water soluble cone now as well as a water soluble one (copied from Curls website)

Ingredients: Purified Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Octyl Palmitrate, Behentrimonum Methosulfate, Dimethicone, Certified Organic Aloe Leaf Juice, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearth-20, Ho Shu Wu Extract, Green Tea Extract, Chamomile Extract, Calendula Extract, Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Panthenol, Soy Protein, Citric Acid, Amodimethicone, Quaternium-15.

1 star because of the 'cone.

I still have bottles of the old version (no 'cones) so the old version - 4 Stars

Old version:  Purified water, Ho Shu Wu Extract, Green Tea Extract, Chamomile Extract, Calendula Extract, Certified Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearth-20, Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Panthenol, Soy Protein, Citric Acid, Methyl Paraben, Fragrance

Based on the ingredients list of old vs. new, the "Asian Tea" ingredients are no longer the higher proportion....

3 stars.  It's ok when used alone.  I felt like it just sat on my hair, and I agree with blaqpearl that there wasn't much slip to it.

However, it gets 3.5 stars when used in conjunction with other products (ie oils, honey).
