I don't see how using a lot of different products a day is necessarily detrimental to the environment. From the people I see using several different stylers they tend to use a far smaller amount than other people using only one. And wouldn't it depend on the type of product anyway, how ecological it is in and of itself? That kind of  logic reminds me of a thread on NC where one poster accused others of destroying the environment by taking daily showers.

If I knew a certain company was STILL testing on animals, sorry I wouldn't use them. There are so many chemicals out there now that were tested for their safety way back in the day, whose efficacy has been analysed in countless studies, there is no excuse to still be doing that. I couldn't knowingly support such a company, when I have reams of alternatives that don't indulge in that type of frivolous torture and killing. Animal testing should be reserved for medical products, and other essentials where safety need to be ensured, not some lipstick or grease.

I can almost bet you money that about 80% of the products on the market TODAY are tested on animals in some way, shape or form.  And they almost HAVE to be.  Just because chemical a and chemical b have been proven safe by countless studies...when you mix them....you get chemical C AND possibly some other by-product chemicals of that reaction.  All that has to be tested.

If you look closely....a lot of products will say that the FINISHED product is not tested on animals.  So when the product is in the developmental stages....what do u think happens?
extremely thick, kinky, coils and curls that have a mind of thier own.

Another hairboard question....when did "biracial" become a part of the hair type system ???

I keep seeing people with "3c biracial curls" or "3b/c biracial curly" in thier siggys.  I mean are 3c biracial curls really any different from regular ole run of the mill 3c negro curls?

What is up with people trying to make other posters feel bad about the product choices they make for thier hair?

"You know company XYZ tests on animals"   You know what....if its between me having soft, shiney hair and fluffy getting some shit sprayed in his eyes....sorry fluffy, but it sucks to be you.

"You use how many products a day?  Wow...that can't be good for the environment"  Yes...I use 2..sometimes 3 stylers and 2 conditioners on my hair.  You should try it and maybe YOUR shit wouldn't look like a birds nest.

"You use that?  You know it contains (insert evil, cancer causing chemical here) and that stuff will give you cancer in 100 years"   And if I get cancer 100 years from now (and will I really care at 128?)....then you are more than welcome to find my old, half deaf, memory challenged ass and tell me I told you so!

Man...get the hell outta here with that ish!!!

Well...I'm gonna be honest....when folks are transitioning....I will suggest a BC.  Usually cause the root of the problem steams from fighting the two drasticly different textures.  Wanna solve the problem?  Eliminate one of the textures.  Problem solved

So true, but I was a scaredy cat, so I worked with the two textures for a year.  When I think back now, that WAS SOOOOOOO FREAKIN STUUUUUUPPPPIIDDDD!  I should have transitioned for 5 months (to have some hair on my head), then chopped.  Styling and products would have been so much easier.

You live and you learn.

Somebody once posted that there is a difference between caucasian curly 3c and black (mixed with any other race) curly 3c.  In most cases the introduction of afro textured hair can throw off the performance of a gel made for non-mixed 3c.

Like for example, I've seen 3 different versions of 4a hair texture (mine, Spirals, and Jazzi).  We're all 4a, but my hair is the most cottony of the textures (at least in my opinion).

^^^  I understand that...but why not say "wiry 3c" or "cottony 3c" or "silky 3c"?  What does the connotation of being mixed tell me?  Other than just that...that u are mixed?  Cause we all know that afro hair can take on MANY different apperances and can run the the spectrum.

For me , doubt that if I was fully white or fully black I would have hair like I do based on looking at my parents and other family members hair ( I don't even know what hair type my dad has as he brushes it dry so it's just low cut frizz  same with the rest of the fam- Apart from one ff my aunts who has locks which I didn't know until about 9yrs ago as she always had her head covered As for my mama her family consists of thin or fine very straight blonde hair) so for me that mix gave me the hair that I have, but I wouldn't say my hair is different to any other 3c or 3b/c hair.

When I was little and coming up the only other people I saw with hair like mine were other bi-racial folks, it wasn't until black women started to embrace their natural hair that I, and probably a lot of other people realized not all black folks have tight kinky hair, So it's not that I think 3c or b/c can only be found on bi-racial folks, but for me being bi-racial is why I have it....I still don't put that in my sig though so I guess that doesn't really answer the question?..lol
I dunno maybe it's just embracing the hair for what it is and who they are

I think it's more of the bolded part than anything, and not to beat a dead horse but if you want to get technical about it, we're ALL mixed with something, and how one can make that distinction with their hair still baffles me. That's like the one drop rule, yet what is the difference between black blood and white blood when it's all RED? ???

Sitting in bed, checking out HC, just had a glass of water, spit it out laughing on this, thankfully missed the keyboard/screen.  Hubby asks what's so funny, I read this to him and he starts laughing too.

Of course, I am NOT going to share with him the personal hygiene threads....  He thinks HC is only about hair ;)
