kinky-curly curling custard
« on: August 08, 2006, 05:18:36 PM »
ok, so i think i've figured this one out. usually when i use this, i apply a leave-in to wet hair then apply a small amount to each of my 4 sections. when it's done air-drying, i gently pull at the ends of the hair to get rid of the crunch. but this morning i tried something different. i applied my leave-in (elucence), the kccc, then used a small amount of leave-in on top of that! and today, defined, shiny (but not jherri curl shiny), and no crunch! (except for the few places where i din't put leave-in on top, since i wasn't thorough in my hectic rush this morning) and my curls felt much softer than when i usually use the kccc! i'm so happy!

i have to find the perfect balance or different leave-in to put on top because i believe my curls can come out even softer!

maybe those who've given up on this product can try it one more time and see if maybe it works using it this way...? :)
trying to catch up after being m.i.a. for 2 years. dang, there are a lot of posts!

I'm learning not to take it personally when other people's crazy is showing...it's not my problem.

Thanks for the tip Nat.  I have been using it per the directions by leaving a little rinse out in my hair.  I still think it will work best when my hair gets longer.

Did putting the leave-in on top of the KCCC (as well as under it) affect the amount of definition or hold?  Did your hair feel too producty?  Do you ever mix leave-in with the KCCC together in your hands and then apply them?

Yeah, sometmes KCCC works great...but sometimes it is too crunchy or too defined or too producty.  Kind of hit or miss for me.  I may try it again like you said tomorrow, though.

I really want to try KCCC, so I'll try your Elucence method when I get it, Natakue. I doubt I will have the overdefinition problem so many people complain about because that has so rarely happened in my hair. Especially as my hair is currently at its driest, and not exactly in rude health, thus more resistant to clumping, I'm guessing the overdefinition effect will certainly be minimized.

yea, it did affect the definition and hold, but not in a bad way. my hair was a little fluffier than when i don't put a leave-in on top. i also plopped in a t-shirt for about 5-10 min. (sorry for forgetting to write that) so my hair didn't producty at all. just nicely shiny defined curls that stayed defined for the entire day, but didn't look fake or stiff or greasy or jherri-curl-y. the leave-in on top definitely helps. next time i'm going to try either the curls milkshake or bb happy nappy on top to see if it makes it softer.

no, i never mixed the kccc with leave-in before putting it in my hair...i will try that too. but i may wait until a day where i won't be going out, just in case the 2 products don't interact well and i'd have to rinse out and start over. but i'll keep you guys posted on my findings. ;)
