Kemi Oyl Shea Butter Pomade

4.5 Stars

One of my favorite pomades. When I want to slick my hair back and need something thick, I use this on wet hair, brush, and put in a pony. Not much is needed, and this stuff lays my hair down like nobody's business. Also, gives chunkier curls when applied correctly. And since it's shea butter, it leaves the hair soft(never hard), and is great as a heat protectant as well(I've used it in the past when heat-styling).

Would have given it a 5, but the smell leaves something to be desired. It isn't bad, but isn't great either. And when applied to wet hair, it looks kinda white. It goes away as it dries, but if I gotta run out really quick, I'd be walking around with a white film on my head. Also, I don't know what essential oils are used, nor do I know what this "herbal complex" is. Maybe it's proprietary, but I'd still like to know what it is(so I can make it myself  ;)).

Ingredients: shea butter, essential oils, herbel-complex, fragrance.

Co-sign. I love their shea butter pomade. It's my favorite. It slicks my hair down way better than gel.

On the rec of some posters here, I purchased the Kemi Oyl Shea Butter Pomade. I used it on Friday and it seemed fine. I still need to add gel, but my hair is pretty hard to hold.

But where it really helped: I band my hair at night, and when I pulled into a puff on Saturday morning,  I noticed that my hair was still straight--not a puff at all, but more like it was in a banana clip.  :o

So, I spritzed my hair with a moisture spritz, added the Kemi Oyl shea butter pomade, and the Kemi Oyl Pro Gel Plus.  My hair formed back into a well moisturized puff, but still retained most of the length.  That night, my puff was still soft.  The grape cool-aid smell can be a little overwhelming, but I realize that my hair does like shea butter (more than coconut oil, I'm afraid), so I think this product's a keeper for me. Four stars.
