Any Loc'd Sisters or Brothers Out There?
« on: April 26, 2007, 02:42:35 PM »
I've been a member of this fourm for quite a while now. When I first joined, I was a newbie to the natural world. I sported a TWA for about 5 months and I loved it. I found the information on this site very useful, I still do, but since I've been loc'd, I've noticed that there isn't any discussion regarding locs. Can we, if there are enough people to participate, get a board for people who are loc'd? :bl:

Oh well, I tried! I guess I'm the only loc'd person on this form (or one of the very few) :(
It's okay though. I still love this site and will continue to visit on a regular basis. ;)

Mabey I'll round up some fellow locers and get them to visit the site, and join, and someday, we will have a board as well! :gossip:

I thought about locs at one point.  I think when I finish school I more than likely will loc.

I love locs... but I love my fros, twists and puffs too. I wish I could rotate locs into the mix.  :(

BTW, GoldenLovelySoul, your hair is fabulous.

Thank you so much for the compliment!  I sometimes wish I would have given myself the opportunity to wear a giant puff, or twist. My plan was to begin locing my hair when I turned 40 (which is 5 years from now). :shhh: I wanted to play in my natural hair , doing all the cute styles I've seen on other naturals. I don't have any regrets though. I'm really enjoying my baby locs.  :hearts:

It's funny you say that b/c my plan is to loc by 40...or first baby, whichever comes first!  Hopefully 40 :D

I thought of locs.  But two things stopped me (1) three different locticians told me that my hair was too soft (whatever that means) to loc (2) the military has now banned locs.  Well, and (3) loc maintenance.

I want to lock too, but I was also told my hair was too soft and I think that would make it look fuzzy. They are so beautiful though. I like the tiny tiny locks-sisterlocks I believe they call them. They look like tiny braids until you get up close. My aunt from Jamaica Queens, NY has beautiful grey locs. My mother who hates locs even loves her hair

Hey ladies!!!  I know this is a really really old thread, but I just wanted to also say that I contemplated locks off and on during my natural journey for about 3 years.  It has since resurfaced so I took the plunge and now I am scheduled to get Sisterlocks in 4 days!!!  I am so excited.  My consultant put 3 sample locks in and she will do the whole installation over the course of 3 days.  I hope she will be finished by then.  If not, we'll have to get it in the week after next.  I am trying to get used to not having any product on my hair because she told me that I won't be able to use anything except shampoo for a while.  (And you KNOW that is ancient to me!)  My hair is dry as a bone now and I am NOT used to that but I think I'll be ok.  My hair just needs time to adjust.

I will post pics along the way.  I took some pictures for my album but I haven't udpated yet.  She told me that my hair is beautiful and she can already tell my Sisterlocks are going to be even more beautiful.  She also told me that she's never done an installation on someone with my hair length before.  So I'm glad to be her first long-haired Sisterlock installation!
