"Bulbous" Ends
« on: September 09, 2007, 04:10:16 PM »
I just did some box braids for my hair (I actually parted them in the front and it made such a difference!) and I realized why I don't like wearing twists and braids:  because my ends look like BULBS!

It's fine all the way down the braid and then at the end it's a big round bulb and I HAAAAAAAAAAAAATE how it looks! Some of my braids are smaller and so the ends curl up and are no wider than the braid and it looks so nice! But my hair is thicker in certain of my head than others and sure enough, no matter how much gel or shea butter I put on the ends, it looks like a bulb is on the end.

Am I the only one who experiences this? ??? Is there anything I can do to stop it?

It depends on the section of hair for me, but I mainly have the problem in reverse.  :-\

yes I have my hair at the ends curl and flatten and look like I need a trim but I do not it is the curl def in my hair that is very very curly and tight so I go with the flow and let it be.  Your hair looks awesome anyway so go with the flow and let it ride... I do  :)

I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm wearing "bulbs" as we speak. This happens mostly when my ends are trimmed & blunt(I have thick hair all the way down to the ends) and when I do dry or barely damp twists where I don't saturate the ends. Once the ends are bulbous(sp?) then they won't gel or stick together without completely rewetting them. There's no amount of product I can add to the ends to get the swelling to go down once they are full & "bulby"(sp?) without rewetting and adding product.
