Oh boy...

Damned summer! You get all used to wetting your hair everyday and then Fall comes and just throws the plans right out the window! I wet my hair the other day and stepped outside into 68 degrees and my head was NOTICEABLY cooler.

This will be my second winter napptural...last winter, I honestly dont remember what I did. LOL! I think I washed my hair at night and fluffed it up in the morning.

Yeah girl, same here....it's my 2nd winter and I don't know what I did last year, but whateva I did probably isn't gonna work this time around bein' that I have that much more hair, LOL....
I'm definately takin' notes...
:study:
Yes, Mr./Ms. AFRICAN-american....you've been BRAINWASHED since BIRTH....now repeat after Clawz, "nappy hair is GOOD, and 'good hair' is NAPPY"......

I'm gonna do chunky fros and twistouts.  I'm also going back on strict CG b/c it seems to make my hair thrive in the colder months.  On the days I want to wear a shake n go, I'll just get up earlier so my head isn't soaking when I leave the house.  Here's a moisturizing concoction I make for winter.  I use it for twists and wash n go's.

50% LOTD Aloe **
30% Right On Curl Activator
10% EVOO+Honey
10% Leave in of your choice
mix and apply to damp/dry hair.  Will stay moist until next wash.

Jazzi, what is the item with the two stars??

I'm not sure what I'm going to do this winter.  I think I will leave the Scurl Texturizer  Styling Gel alone because if I remember correctly, that can be bad in the cold.  I am drooling over this Hairveda site.  I might have to make an order soon, lol.  My PJism is acting up again.

As my hair is growing, I am finding that this winter will be all about twists, twist outs, box braids (love these  ;D), and cornrows with accesories. Maybe a fro from time to time. Not much manipulation though.

I have already started stretching out my co-washing, and I have made up my own little refresher solution that I squirt on and rub into my scalp in the morning before I leave. Scarf or bonnet at night, OH!!! and I am all about DTs!!!!!!

That is pretty much it. I have decided to buy clothing that is hair friendly and satin scarves for those coats I have already.

That's it!!! :)

I can't take any chances with wetting my hair this winter, because I got really sick in the past...
Now since my hair is longer I will be wearing box plaits & twist extensions until March.
Every week I will oil each braid with Qhemet Heavy Cream to protect from dryness and oil my scalp with BT or Emu Oil for growth.

Well, I plan to wear twist for at least two weeks. Wash and deep condition and repeat. I am so glad that my skill are getting better for twisting.

I'm sticking to my regular....braidouts on dry hair all week, wash on weekends.  I'm going to experiment with twistouts more and maybe twists (lawd, I don't have any patience for this, but I'm going to try).   I'm going get some rollersets too, because, I miss having someone else do my hair sometimes and last year, I did some really cute sets with the flexirods.

I'm keeping it in protective styles 50% of the time. I like the fact of cutting down on manipulation, but I can't have my hair put away all the time. I miss it, lol!

I am pretty much keeping the same routine.  Except I am looking for a good thick creamy styler that offers, hold, definition, shine, and moisture.  I have been eyeing the MHC product line.  I have used and have the whole line of BB, but my hair does not soak it in.  They are way too rich in oils (my hair has never really done well with oils) and butters.  There is something in the way that it is formulated that makes it just sit on top of my hair.  And when it does absorb it, my hair is tacky, oily, and somewhat dull.  But it is soft as heck, but no definition what-so-ever.  So, I use it as a moisturizing overnight treatment.  Jessicurls CCSS has magnesium sulfate in it.  That is very drying after a while, especially if you have tightly curled hair like mine.  SheaM works perfectly for my hair, it is thick and creamy, but not heavy.  It is my most favorite leave-in, but I need something as a styler that will provide definition and hold.  :faint:

As soon as the hawk sets in, it's box braids and cornrows until March.  I may straighten occasionally, but I'll be in braids for the most part.

I am feeling those box braids as well too!  It seriously cuts down on the winter damage/dryness.  And there is nothing like the Windy City...good luck there!

for me it will be same as it always has been all my life, just with the knowledge  I now have that I can't leave the house with wet hair, it just does not dry right, summer, winter, fall whatever (no wonder my high school hair days were such a mess!)
and BB products.
for me Happy Nappy is my winter styler with soft curls and swirls and kick for curls throughout the day to fix the frizz - nothing really different to any other time of year, apart from the fact i can't use HN in summer.
and probably more DT's, going from cold to heated houses/buildings dries my hair out
