Kinky Curly Knot Today
« on: December 17, 2007, 09:38:06 AM »
How do you rate a product that performs well in one way, but you hate in another way? This stuff works well as a leave-in under KCCC, however, so does a lot of other stuff.   It has a kind of weird feeling going on, sort of plastic-ky. It has some hold to it alone, so, it's aight as a standalone leave-in, however, I don't see myself repurchasing this. Nothing about it excites me really. 2.5 stars

ITA!!  I felt the same way.  Many curlies are buying this like there is no tomorrow and not just for use with KCCC.  This combination is like the perfect marriage.  But I got the same results using other things like the other poster said.

This has a rubbery feel to it.  My hands gripped my hair as I applied.  Some have reported great slip...it was okay.  It did do its job of being a good detangler.  But I can get lots of slip from TIGI MM.  And I can use that in more ways than one.

So, I will not be purchasing this product again.  If I do, it is only to use with KCCC.

So, this only got 3 stars from me.
3C~medium, s-curls and corkscrews.
S/O, med, thready/cottony

TIGI MM, Qhemet Biologics (True Staple), Castor and EEVO, Jane Carter, and Honey.

You're more than welcome.   ;D

I only got this because people have reported this as being the land of milk and honey when used with KCCC.  It is, but I had much better results personally with using SheaM.  It was softer and whatever was a little crunchy was easily scrunchable.  It smelled nice and it detangled, but I was looking for it to be ideal since I got magnificent results with the SheaM.  So, everyone heads is different and respond differently.  But mine looked better with something other than this.

To know for sure, I would see if someone would be willing to give you a sample to try it with.  That is what I did!!  But only if it interests you enough to try it.  I would have been happier with great results that I was already having.  It was a success in my book with SheaM.  And it saved me time, money, and shipping wait.

J, if you want it, you know I've got you.  Shea Moisture dries softer though.  I would much prefer the Shea Moisture to the Knot Today.

Ok, you guys are so right. Compared with Giovanni leave-in (any Giovanni conditioner actually) Knot Today doesn't have as much slip and gives about the same curl definition. My curls are looser with Giovanni and tighter with Knot-Today. I don't really care as long as my hair is easy to detangle-actually it's easier to detangle with Knot Today--no frizzes...There is a possible future purchase.

I gave it a three my hair is not liking it very much anymore. It doesn't do anything spectacular. My hair doesn't feel moist at all it really feels dry to be honest.

Update:

The one thing that does set this leave-in apart from the others is that it aids in clumping curls even before you get to the KCCC.  I really like that about it.  In order for it to be of any use outside of the KCCC, I mixed oil with it and applied.  I was pleasantly surprised at the results.

So, I just might keep this one around for a little while, but not go overboard with having it in my line up.  Since I have basically given up on the SheaM because of the potential for build-up(easily on my hair) and this does not.

Thanks to KIM, I got to try this!  and I like it alone rather than w KCCC. Alone, I get nice, soft, natural looking hair. w KCCC, I get an overdefined look...kinda like Ms. KCCC herself.  I think for hair that has alot natural clumping, it's better to use KCCC w something else, b/c when paired w Knot Today, your hair will look flat and unnatural.   But for hair that doesn't really clump much, this combo will be excellent!  The product itself, I think is worth 3 stars.

What's VIA and where have you seen the creator of K C's pic?  I never noticed them on the KC website...

^^ I don't know what VIA is, but the creator's pic is on the "tips" page and is the last pic on the "transformations" page.

I like KC knot today by itself or when used with KCCC
for me, its the only product that i have been able to use
under KCCC without having the white clumps in my hair
However, i am not in love with KCCC that much
that i will buy a leave-in just so that i can use the product
In addition, I hate waiting on shipping....

Well I gave it a chance--I will never purchase it again as long as I have my Giovanni conditioners.

It's an okay product and certainly nothing worth me continually purchasing. As, once was enough for me.

I do wish that this product was more moisturizing and detangling. But, until that happens I would rather go without it.

Knot Today is one of two products (Shea Moisture Leave-In being the other one) that defines my curl pattern and it smells great and leaves my hair soft........the KCCC is what doesn't work for me.

If I could find a product to use over KT that would hold my hair without making it hard, crispy and a shrunken mess, I'd be in heaven.
