New milkshake Formula
« on: January 06, 2008, 06:30:57 pm »
I was a little apprehensive about this since all the reviews I read about it were not to so good but I went ahead and ordered it anyway and I'm glad I did.
I think it's just as good as the old one if not better I give it 5 stars.
I've been using it for about a week now under various combinations of BB products, with good results each time, this is the only thing that allows me to leave the house with hair that is less than 60% dry and still look good when it's 100% dry so thats a big  :2thumbsup: for me.
while it's thicker it still works the same for me, and the added ingredients don't seem to be making a difference in a bad way I will say it gives a lot more shrinkage which is fine for me - but today it's crazy, it's causing my 3c part which is my underneath to look 2 inches shorter than the top, but it is helping to define my fuzzy patch at the back.

Likes:
 smells nice
leaves my hair soft and  defined
gives shrinkage
lasts a long time.

Dislikes:
 only available online.

Yes I love this as well and did not realize how much until I looked back at pictures of my hair while using this product.  My curls POP when I use milkshake and my hair loves it.

I do agree with you yella my hair shrinks up a lot too. I don't mind that at all.

I'm still on the fence.  Probably because I've only used the new formula once.  I got great results with the original formula and was a regular user of this product.  I may try it out this weekend and come back to post a rating.

Well the verdict is in....I like the new milkshake formula just as good as the old.  It dried really nice without a dull cast.  Left my hair soft but a little curlier than usual.  The only real difference that I notice is the consistency.  The newer formula is thicker.  Finally a reformulation for the better.

5 stars!

Exactly, I get so sick of products getting reformulated and end up worse than before.
I'm still loving the new formula, only thing is I find I'm going through it a lot quicker, I'm waiting for my 2nd tub...But I use it every day.

Ladies, how do you know if you have the new formula?  Is it the jar?  B/c I have the new packaging: a slightly different formula from the very first...but it's still the same Milkshake.  Is this what you guys mean?...or is there a totally new product?

The reason I ask is b/c I dont purchase CURLS online, and maybe what my vendor had vs. what the company has are 2 different things.

my old milkshake is in a pink tub ( I use the kids one) and the new one is a green tub, the pink one (old one) ingredients are:

pure coconut milk, sweet almond milk, soy milk, cetearyl alcohol, coconut oil, olive oil, pomegranate seed oil, monoii de tahita, avocado oil, stearalkonium choloride, plimeria extract, rosemary extract, fragrance

the new one is:

Purified water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, cetearyl alcohol, behentrimonium methosulfate, jojoba oil, cetrimonium chloride, soy protein, soyamidoprpylkonium chloride, allantoin, soy lecithin, beeswax milk, coconut milk, aloe vera milk, milk amino acids, buttermilk, arnica extract, lavender extract, chamomile extract, white tea extract, methylisothiazolinone, fragrance.

the new one is much thicker... and as you can see has a whole bunch of different stuff in it  :o - i never noticed that until just now how different the ingredients are

Thank you YellaGirl!  ;)

It looks like I don't have either formula.  The one I have has the same ingredients listed on the site:

Purified water, certified organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice, cetearyl alcohol, behentrimonium methosulfate, jojoba oil, cetrimonium chloride, soy protein, soyamidoprpylkonium chloride, allantoin, soy lecithin, sweet almond milk, coconut milk, aloe vera milk, milk amino acids, buttermilk, arnica extract, lavender extract, chamomile extract, white tea extract, methylisothiazolinone, fragrance.

beeswax milk is the only ingredient in yours that isn't in mine...so maybe we have the same thing but wrong labels?

<sigh>....that wouldn't be the first time...

I just ordered two jars from Curls.biz (after much drama and aggravation).  I hope they sent me the right stuff.

I mean if it's super thick, how do I know it's not Curls Soufle (which contains cones)?  How can one product have three different ingredient lists???  WTF?  Please don't even get me started. >:(

maybe it's just the curly Q's one that has beeswax milk in it? the ingredients list on the site is the same on the tub, I don't see much difference between the adult and kids one apart from the price tag so I buy the cheaper on.

spiderlashes5000, you'll be able to tell the difference between milkshake and souffle the milkshake is thicker than the old one which was quite runny but is not as solid as the souffle.
I don't think any of the labels are wrong, just I have the old and new formula of the curly Q's where I'm assuming Jazzi has the Adult version ? ???

It's not super thick, just thicker than the original which was on the runny side.  I have the formula Jazzi has.  The original had coconut milk as the first ingredient.

I think I'd like the new version better than the old--my hair doesn't like coconut oil/milk all that much. AND my hair likes a couple of the ingredients in the new version a lot.

The Milkshake I just ordered two weeks ago directly from curls.biz is the old formula.  I know it's the old formula because the ingredient lists matches the empty jar I have from almost two years ago.  WTH?

I don't know which verion I have...but me no likey!!!  It left a dull film on my hair.  I've only used it once...so I'll try using it again after a good shampoo to see if that fixes it.  If not...then it's off to the swap/sell board

2 stars until I attempt it again
extremely thick, kinky, coils and curls that have a mind of thier own.
