100% Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay
« on: January 13, 2008, 11:29:56 AM »
Inspired by Morenae, I did a clay treatment/cleanse this morning.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

I mixed with water, to get a consistency to my liking (similar to sculpting clay), wet hair in the shower, then applied the clay in sections, focusing first on my scalp, second on the length of my hair.  Covered with a shower, let sit for about 20 minutes or so, then rinsed.

Results: clean, soft, defined hair unlike any I've had before.  I think I am in love.  No detectable scent.  I even had my DH take up close and personal sniffs to see if he could smell anything.

The clay did loosen my texture a tad, but I believe that will be temporary.

It gets 4 stars  - 1 star deducted because of the 15-20 minute rinsing process!

ETA pics of naked hair after the cleansing.

Girl, this AM, I wish I had some of that stuff vs. washing my hair with poo...I used a bunch of SLS poo and...let's just say it wasn't pretty.  :'(

I'll probably try some.  Where'd you get it?

ETA:  I see morenae got it from Whole Foods....did you find it there as well?

Girl, they had to go.  They were cute, but just not my look.  To be honest, I got tired of them.

Cleansing.  The clay is supposed to draw out the impurities.  Worked well.  Clean hair that wasn't "stripped".

BTW Kink, not only is your hair the bomb, that kitchen is too!!

Thanks.  Girl, you gotta take what you can get in these overpriced, little @$$ NYC apartments!  My kitchen is great, but one of my bedrooms is the size of my closet in South Carolina.   :-\

NOT completely dry...I would say 75%.  I would post pics of dry hair, but I feel like my hair never really gets 100% dry.  Even by the time I go to bed, hair is still damp.  Wake up, looks like crap, b/c I slept on damp hair.

Great pics! Your hair looks awesome. I have to schedule in a "clay treatment" for myself this weekend.

I agree, the rinsing process is the most tedious aspect of this, but it's worth it. Although I do worry about clogging my plumbing with all the clay in the drain.  :-[
