Due to past PJism, my hair journey is finally extremely solid. I know my hair extremely well...I know when it needs moisture, when it needs protein, etc. I've learned that prevention is extremely key in maintaining good hair practices. (For example, not waiting until your ends start feeling dry, rough, and knotted to start taking care of them.)
I really am in love with my hair. I'm just letting it grow as long as it would like.

I'm finally at the point where I have a clear understanding of what my hair does not like, but finding things that my hair likes consistently is proving to be more difficult.
I now have a few staple products that are working well. I still have a ways to go.

I just went through a point where I just didnt care anymore...lol...I went through the last 2 to 3 months utterly bored with my hair. I think the boredom came from finally finding what my hair likes and using it to the point that it was annoyingly redundant. I think I actually satiated the PJ beast in me.
Now I have decided to just try to baby it and give it the TLC that it needs to thrive. Not expecting more from my hair than I give to it is my decided mantra... Hopefully this will last

It's amazing, b/c like Virtuouslady, I've been natural for quite some time now (going on 6 years) and I STILL have quite a bit to learn about my hair. I've learned more in the last couple of years than I ever have. I have a handle on how to style my hair & care for it, but finding staple routines that promote maximum health & growth are still a challenge. Also my hair changes in what works, making my routine more difficult to grasp. But anyway, it's been a fun ride & still is quite fun. I've been gettin a lil bored lately so I bought a straight wig to change it up a bit. I also want to get some braid extensions to give myself a break from my hair.

I'm only a year and a half in, but I'm in a pretty good place now. I get bored at times, but it's only temporary.
I've learned that I don't need a ton of expensive products and I don't need a lot of actual product on my hair so that makes it much easier. My hair isn't as fussy or finnicky as it use to be so I can't complain.
I'm no where near my goal, but I guess I'm comfortable enough to just chill until I get there.

Ya know it's really still a journey. I mean, I pretty much have it together in terms of products, what my hair will or won't do, like bomb twist outs and such. But honestly I'm still amazed as it grows. My hair is still changing, but in a good way. I'm really happy with my decision to go natural, especially now that I'm back in the gym all the time. It's great to know that a lil' water and leave in is all I need to get it right.

I'm still really new to this journey...it'll be one year in a few days, but I have figured out that less in more for my hair. My hair doesn't like more than 2 products at a time. I'm slowly accepting the largeness and shrinkage as well, but as you all know it's a process. I'm at the point now where I'm trying to perfect twists as a protective style, and I'm just trying to let it grow to it's terminal length while enjoying my options along the way.

I think its coming together pretty well for me
I don't buy random stuff to "try" anymore... I don't crave the new thing anymore
I know what my hair like so far.. and the only things I'm willing to experiment with are natural things (ie raw shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, and the like)
Plus, my hair grows best when I don't "play" with it too much.

Right now I am mostly focusing on true hair health. I am finally figuring out what my hair likes and does not like. I have been natural since 1995, but most of that time was extreme trial and error. This is the first year of being "totally natural with my products" and learning about the effects of the NO NO ingredients. I take my hair a bit more seriously. Knowing what it does not like is easier than finding the products that it does=challenging.
The only peeve that I have is that I have not kicked the habit of relying heavily on gels. So, that is the last leg of my journey to wean myself from the heavy gel usage. Finding out that I am protein sensitive has helped me to want break the habit. Most gels are heavy in PROTEINS! For some reason, this time around my hair does not look as great with them as in the past or when my hair is much shorter.
So, this actually puts me back out there to try some of the creams/butters out there. I am taking it slow, because it is a boat load of money when it comes to that. I like being able to see some products locally, but I am definitely with the convenience of it coming in the mail. The PJ in me has calmed down considerably. And living here in my city, it does not really have a lot of the better lines to choose from like in the bigger city. So, my reliance online is still prevalent for most of my staples.

I'm bored and never satisfied. I know most of the things that work for my hair although I'm starting to look for a spritz for my hair....cannot find one!! There are some quirks of my hair I'm trying to work on like my hair line but other than that no problem

I am still learning.....
For instance I learned that after incoporating daily cw's in the warmer months, my scalp needs water on it daily. I am finding products locally, however I still have some online that I must have, but I don't get them that often at all anymore.
I really love my hair, no matter what hairstyle, and I love the versatility of wearing my hair natural.

I'm enjoying my hair and slowly building an arsenal of reliable, fool proof products and techniques.
I want to learn how to do more updos and hair "styles" as opposed to just wearing my hair down, in a ponytail or in a bun. (I want to learn how to do more styles on my daughter, too. I rarely have the patience to do more than puffs or a few braids.)
I feel like it will be time for me to start gradually going shorter soon. Well, I've already started. So I want to find a flattering length and cut.
I don't think PJism is bad as long as it's not adversely affecting your finances or causing you any kind of emotional turmoil. It's fun so I indulge it a bit.

i'm rather stabilized, and so started the experimental stuff as another step in my journey.
i'm also at a point in my journey called, "i'm interested in reaching my terminal length, but if i woke up tomorrow with a twa it wouldn't phase me."
it's a nice place to be when it seems like everyone around you is obsessed with length.

I've been completely natural for 3 years and I still haven't found a solid routine for winter. I started baggying, which does help a little with the dryness, but I haven't found any moisturizers that are heavy enough to kill the dryness completely.

Right now I am still trying to find products that are right for my hair. I have not done much experimenting though to find that right products. My hair is healthy so I am not looking to make it healthy.
I just want to try different moisturizing and styling products. I can't wait until I have everything down pack.
