Afroveda Pur Whipped Jelly
« on: June 18, 2009, 11:57:12 AM »
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Coconut oil, Glycerin, Avocado oil, Essential oil blend.

This product reminds me of a custard/pudding gel.  I've only used it to slick back my hair into a ponytail, but it has completely replaced my fantasia IC for this purpose (i even threw the fantaisa away)!  Its a light hold creme gel, doesn't flake, and does't leave the hair crunchy and it mixes with other stylers/moisturizers!!!!  It's been raining here in DC for the past few days so I havn't been able to test drive this as a wash and go product, but i'm thinking that it will hold up VERY well.

It smells REALLY good....the smell sort of reminds me of strawberries...but its not tooo strong.

PROs:  1.  The price is right!!! 8oz for $9....can't beat that with a stick
            2.  Natural ingredients
            3.  Performs well...i only used a tiny bit and it layed my edges DOWN....and even though it's raining today, i don't have that darn halo frizz thing happening

CONS:  1.  honestly, I can't think of one!

Overall, I'm giving this 4 stars....once I use it as a wash and go styler....I'll revise the ranking and it might go up to 5 stars.

I'm really loving the Afroveda product line.  I just took a peak at the owner's blog (You are not allowed to view links.Register or Login
http://afroveda.blogspot.com/
) and it seems that she is bringin out 16oz and 64 oz containiers of the products.  I really hope that she keeps her price point the same and that she doesn't increase her prices.

extremely thick, kinky, coils and curls that have a mind of thier own.

Ok...i had to come back and update my review.  I just did a set of twists for a twist out today and I really think that the pur whipped jelly woud make an EXCELLENT shingling product.  When I was applying to my sections to twist and then brushing them with my paddle bush, the clumpage was off the hook.  I still havn't test drove it as a wash and go product, but I've got high expectations that it will work out well!

for my twists I used the KBB hair milk as a leave in (i'm really starting to love this stuff more and more), the afroveda totally twisted almond butter as a sealer, and the afroveda pur whipped jelly as my twisting/hold product. i'm under the dryer now, and I need to get dressed cause I'm headed to NYC for the day, but I had to come in and share my results!

I am going to try using this again. Didn't do too well for me the first time. We'll see.

Ok....so the twists out that I did on Saturday held up until Wednesday (which is a plus)...but...by Wednesday afternoon my hair felt dry.  I'm not sure if I should be expecting moisture on day 5 from a hair product (that might be pushin it).  At anyrate...I still like the products and I'll continue to use it...but if you don't plan on washing for 3-4 days, you might need to layer it over a heaiver leave in.

I have this in my hair today, with Afroveda Curly Custard undearneath. It is pretty good. The difference is  I put it in my hair wet, and not as much as I used the first time. My hair is soft and happy!!!

Afroveda is a keeper!!!

Here's the latest ingredient listing for Afroveda's PUR Whipped Gelly:

Aloe Vera Whole Leaf Gel, Coconut Oilm Almond Oil, Herbal Oil Complex, Vanilla Essential Oil. This product is in creme form, but yet it provides the hold of a gel in the hair. Also, this product is creamier in texture than Hairveda's Whipped Gelly and it has a more natural scent to it than Hairveda's version, in my opinion.

The product smells like real vanilla. However, the scent is a light one and is not overpowering in the hair no matter how long the product is worn in it. Also, a little bit goes a long way with this product because it is on the concentrated side. This is a great product to use for wearing the hair down curly or even when you need to wear your hair in slicked back styles.

I actually love this product so much till I have it in its salon size, which is 32 ozs. Also, I really like the fact your really get your money's worth with Afroveda's products. As, Mala really fills the products to the top. And, the products are natural and contain a host of organic and ayurvedic ingredients in them that are absolutely terrific for the hair.

ITA w NC's reviews!  This is an awesome hair pudding!  Smells great, doesn't flake, plays well with oils and butters, great for smoothing the hairline, and good wash n go product.  Just a good all around hair pudding.  BUT, if you're a mixtress, you could TOTALLY duplicate this product.  All it is is aloe gel and oil!  That doesn't take away from its great price and performance though, so it still gets 5 stars from me!
