Yogurt in my hair???
« on: May 12, 2008, 11:55:46 AM »
Do any of you ladies add yogurt to your regime. Once again I have been on other sites and I like to bring new topics to you (if that is ok) to find out your views. For some reason I trust you all more  ??? The question was do yogurt and whole milk straighten or loosen curl patterns?

I use yogurt as a protein treatment. It makes my hair softer. I can't say that it 'loosens' the curl, as I think that might give you the wrong expectations, but it usually IS easier to detangle afterwards.

LOL!!! "other site"

Yeah I tried yogurt and milk.... and I have to agree with Kiya on this one. There isn't any real difference in my hair other than softer for a period of time. It doesn't last past the next wash either.

I just use it from time to time to change up my dc

I've never tried yogurt, but I have used eggs and olive oil. It made my hair soft and strong at the same time but is too messy to use on the regular.

yogurt mixed with condish is extremely moisturizing/softening.

if you're looking to loosen your texture a bit, try the carmel treatment, or lime and coconut.

I used it once, full-fat organic greek yogurt. It was so rich and creamy I thought it would do wonders for my hair. When I rinsed, though, my hair felt oddly stiff and oily. Such a disappointment. The greek yoghurt tasted so good, I was real mad I wasted it on my hair.

I use yogurt in my hair each time I DC, and I love it.  It makes my hair  easier to detangle, generally. I also use honey, olive oil, castor oil, and molasses in my DC.

The only negative is that it is a mild protein, and it will make my hair a little stiff and out of sorts on the days I detangle and DC.
