My biggest problem is my hair always feeling so crispy and dry.  It gets so bad that the hair on top, which is normally wavy, straightens out and is a big ball of dry frizz.  If I could find a product/s to moisturize my hair, I'd be so happy.

Amber, I had the same problem when my hair was longer with it feeling really dry, especially on my ends. I was on a forum last summer and found some helpful info about Aveda's Humectant Pomade. I used that when twisting and really focused on my ends and I was amazed at the results my hair felt a lot more moisturized. Today while surfing the web for hair products I came across Aura's Purearoma Radiant Humectant Pomade (You are not allowed to view links.Register or Login) which is a knock off of Aveda's Humectant Pomade, and it's way cheaper I am going to try it and I'll let you know how it turned out for me. :2thumbsup:

Cool!  Let me know!  I think this Blended Beauty scent might just be a little too much for me.  I wonder if she would make it sans the scent?

I feel the same way about BB's signature scent myself. It was one of the deciding factors as to why I stopped using products from BB in the first place.

So far I'm really liking the Deva Curl products I have (One Conditioner and No Poo).

I have the the Curly Girl book has a lot of recipies in them, havent' tried any of them yet though.

I have the DevaCare One Conditioner.  I really like it, but I can't get it to rinse out clean.   >:( It stays in my hair as little orange balls.  Do I need the DevaCURL stuff instead?

When I've seen recipes like this for the hair, it's recommended to use something with slip, like lecithin(the one that I saw was recommended by celebrity stylist). The lecithin gives it slip and makes it easier to rinse out and I believe provides some emolliency.

Thanks for that info.  I know I had no idea about that!

Oh, that's odd.  I really don't know, I've only used DevaCURL. I haven't experienced any problem rinsing out.

It COULD be a possible reaction to some of your styling products?  I know certain things I mix with my BBD Stretch will react with each other, curdle up leaving clumps of yuck in my hair.

Amber,
You said that it took you forever to get that stuff out of your hair.

I tried a recipe similar to this one night and here's what I did: I pureed a banana, honey, and olive oil in a food processor. Gradually, I kept adding water unil I got a liquidy consistency. Then I strained the mixture. That's what you need to remember to do--strain the chunks out of your liquid and then you'll have no problem washing it out.

I tried a food treatment  :stir: and it was yucky too! I do like a little honey every now and then in my conditioner. I hope you find something soon...stay encouraged!  :)

I'm sitting here with 4 avocados, a banana, olive oil and honey in my hair.  I hope this stuff works because I feel kind of silly, lol...

I tried this recipe last week, but used one avocado, one banana, coconut milk, olive oil, and honey.

I'd blended and froze the mixture in ice cubes, so I defrosted three (I really need four) and left in for a few hours.  It is not so much a moisturizing treatment, as it is more a very mild reconstructor--mixture of protein and moisture. It's nice to use this maybe once monthly.  I still needed to use a moisturizing conditioner afterward.

That's my brief review on it!  :)

Oh, I didn't know it was more of a reconstructing recipe.  Does anyone have a recipe for a more moisturizing recipe?  I might try that.

I'm liking this Devacurl so far.
