Crossing my fingers
« on: July 24, 2006, 10:15:42 PM »
I'm sitting here with 4 avocados, a banana, olive oil and honey in my hair.  I hope this stuff works because I feel kind of silly, lol...

This sucks.  My hair feels worse than it did when I started.  When I first rinsed it out, my hair felt like plastic doll hair that had been played with a little too much.  I had to wash with the Hello Hydration poo a few times to get the stuff out, then I conditioned.  I'm starting to think nothing will get moisture to my hair.  :disappointed:

have you tried overnight deep conditions? use the most moisturizing conditioner you have, add stuff to it (if your hair doesn't react badly to oils, glycerin and/or honey), put on a plastic shower cap and go to sleep. when i rinse or shampoo the next day, i usually see a difference.

I slept with this stuff on my hair last night.  I'm not sure what my hair reacted poorly to last night, I'm sure it wasn't the honey, though.  I guess I'll stick to eating the avocados and bananas instead of putting them in my hair, lol.

I'm going to order the Curls Hair Tea condish and The Milkshake and see how that works for me.

I never have good results using food in my hair.  Some people like this, but i just don't.  A hairstylist once told me that high quality commercial hair products capture the best of these "natural remedies" and get rid of the worst.  Honey is the only exception -- I like using honey.

Seriously, Curl Junkie stuff seems very moisturizing and softening...i.e., the DTs and leave-ins.  Also, I raely have had problems with my hair feeling dry since I started using DevaCurl One Condition.  That's also a great "daily" conditioner if your hair tends to be dry.  What is your normal conditioner?

I have been flip flopping lately because nothing really seems to work.  I've tried the Suave conditioners, Elucence (which was the best but it still didn't really do enough for my hair), I'm dabbling with Herbal Essences now, I've been using the shampoo, too, because my scalp didn't seem to get clean with nopooing.  I tried Curls coconut condish, it was OK.

I will look into the Deva One and Curl Junkie, too.  I think I'm going to order some stuff today, samples first, if I can.

I do not like Suave.  Well, I use Suave for co-washing, but that's it.  Never tried Herbal Essences.  Only tried a few Curls products, and I don't care for any of them so far.   Elucence is OK, but nothing special, imo.  My hair is very particular! :D

To me, DevaCurl OneC and CJ Healthy Condition are the best daily conditioners out there.  Oh, Regis Design Line Olive Oil conditioner is good, too, and CG-friendly.

When I've seen recipes like this for the hair, it's recommended to use something with slip, like lecithin(the one that I saw was recommended by celebrity stylist). The lecithin gives it slip and makes it easier to rinse out and I believe provides some emolliency.

And I think you used too much avocado. Normally the recipe(I believe) calls for one avocado(maybe two), half a banana, yogurt, honey, olive oil(or whatever oil of choice)and lecithin. Try it again with less avocado and see what happens.
