I didn't do a transition, I just did the BC when it was time for my touch-up, which was every three months..so I did have about 3 months worth of new growth to work with ....
extremely thick, kinky, coils and curls that have a mind of thier own.

Combination of different things: co-rinsing 2xwk, braids, phony ponies, different variations of buns, banding no heat....i did flat iron at the beginning but when went crazy with the heat temp and got heat damage so you got to be careful.

I transitioned for 8 months.  During that time, I wore protective styles, usually a mini French twist or a phony pony.

Can I add one thing?  Not to be a spelling Nazi or anything, but this is a "poll", not a "pole".  When I read the title of the thread, I was wondering if a transitioning pole was anything like a stripper pole....LOL

I bc three times and I did not transition for any of them.  I let it grow about an inch or until it was time to get another relaxer and I chopped it off.  No regrets.

Well, I transistioned for approximately a year. I let my relaxer grow out and did mini-cuts on my hair approximately every 3-4 months until I had gotten rid of all of my relaxed ends.

What helped me the most, were protective styles, using natural products, and deep conditioning my hair on a weekly basis.

I flat ironed in the beginning months and then when my new growth reached a certain point I just started to do different styles.  I wore kinky twists for a couple months, micros for a couple months, bantu knots, twistouts, buns and waves.... then BC =).

I transitioned for 18 months.  No heat at all.  What helped me the most, like Syb,  were protective styles (sock buns), using natural products (Qhemet Biologics), and deep conditioning my hair on a weekly basis.  Oh, and I would always blend the natural hair into the straight, not the other way around, to keep from getting frustrated.  And I suppose stalking NP, NC, BHM, and fotki albums also helped LOL!

I did a lot of twist outs when I was transitioning. I would roll the ends on perm rods so it wouldn't look crazy, but my transition ended up being pretty short; 4 months to be exact.  I typically went 3 months in between touch ups so I went one month beyond that and chopped.

Thanx gals! Does anyone know if blowing out the roots via blowdryer w/comb attachment, if that would help. I remember seeing a youtuber that blows out her hair using various settings of her blow dryer w/comb attachment and her hair is gorgeous :D.
