my new love is co-washes/natural ladies EVERYWHERE
« on: November 24, 2006, 02:35:38 PM »
at first i didnt think that conditioner would really clean my hair but last night i washed with shampoo and on the outsideit looked like all the shampoo was rinsed out out but when i parted my hair is was shampoo all up in there! so i had to keep parting and rinsing blahh. later on i decided to try co-washing and my hair was so soft and it was actually CLEAN. i like washing with conditioner WAY more than shampoo because i dont like the squeaky feeling i get after shampooing.

Besides that i went shopping the other day with my mom and it was natural women everywhere..i was so surprised. It was more naturals than permies in every store. Well except for Wal-mart lol. I was so excited i kept tryin to point them out to my mom. I was like mom look at her hair, look at her hair but she didnt care (a permie) lol. ::)

My hair looooooooooooves co-washes ! Who ever came up with the idea was a genius! My hair feels sooo much more moisturized since I've been doing it (since I BC'ed)

And I know what you mean about getting excited when you see a fellow nappy head, I be out with friends and I be like "Look at her natural,.....Oh look at his locs,...... ooooh look at those curls" and my friends be like "Oh her? yea.. I see" I guess since we have put in the time and effort in becoming natural and and educated ourselves in that area we are the only people that really appreciates what it is to be natural. I do wish I see more nappies here in Miami but the most I'v seen was like 3 in 1 place. Where do you live?

I KNOW! and the products i use absorb so much better when i co wash instead of shampooing

i live right outside of houston. i guess we are the only ones that care because while i was going natural my permed hair kept breaking off and i was like its a shame that i have to go through all this to get the hair that i was supposed to have already

Nappybuthappy,

I'm so happy to see another natural southern girl
I live in Beaumont, about an hour outside of Houston. These sisters out here are not trying to hear "natural" :scared:
I too love the co-wash. I was shampooing once a week, but today I said I'm going to go strictly co-wash for as long as I can just to see what happens. I think even the once a week poo was stripping my natural oils too much.

I know where Beaumont is!  I'm from New Orleans originally and we would go through Beaumont whenever we would visit my uncle's family in Houston (The Woodlands).

What kind of conditioner are you ladies co-washing with?

I too am a southern natural ( and I've been to Beaumont too ).

Anyways, I can so feel what you're talking about re: spotting naturals while you're out.  It appears that I'm seeing more and more, but most sistas aren't TRYING to consider being natural.  I do believe I've got my best friend convinced to try it.
