Good Tready Boots?
« on: December 17, 2008, 10:01:02 AM »
Last night we were hit by an ice storm. Almost busting my butt twice in 2 different pairs boots made me realize my winter game is not up to par. None of the boots I currently own have good tread. Can anyone recommend some good tready boots (that are at least mildly attractive)? I need to get 2 pairs in black and brown.

I need a pair of boots for the snow too.  All of my boots are high heeled and I refuse to wear Timbs.

Even the women's styles?  That's what I was gonna suggest.  LOL

I am a disaster on the snow/ice, and I'm having a difficult time finding boots, too.  I have noticed in Marshall's and TJ Maxx, etc. in the shoe section, they always seem to have these "snow bunny" type boots (puffy nylon uppers w/pom pom laces, lots of exposed fur/shearling, etc.) and they seem to have good tread.  They're usually around $30...but one pair was $200.  Very cute but perhaps not for me...

haha I tried those on in DSW.  They looked cuter on the shelf than on my feet.   :(  But you like them?  Do you wear them indoors or are they strictly leave-em-at-the-door boots?

I have the same problem. I'm new to winter climate, just moved to IL from Miami, FL and my boots all have heels and no grip. I can't seem to find cute/feminine boots. Everyone's told me winter boots are about not falling, not a fashion statement, but I'm sure there has to be a middle ground.

They are very cute. I wear them all day. They look nice w/ leggings and skinny jeans. They are so warm and comfortable.

So my grandmother got me some oil and slip-resistant men's work shoes from Walmart for Christmas. Not attractive at all (as you can imagine).  But I wore them for the first time today during the morning ice storm and I didn't slip once!

I just saw these Yaktrax on the Today show. Supposedly turns "any flat shoe" into a snow shoe. I'm thinking about getting some.

I've just been wearing these to death...just some Ralph Lauren boots I've had for a couple of years.  They've got a heel but they've got really good tread so it sort of negates the height of the heel.

I was planning to get rid of them on ebay this past fall (hence the pics  LOL) but I'm glad I decided not to.
