okay am i just being needy and possibly a bit grouchy from working all day?  why did i post a response to a topic on another hairboard and get totally ignored... but when another poster wrote essentially THE SAME THING a few posts later, the OP responded to them?  i mean hell my post was there first... respond to mine! i mean damn...

why do people do that?  did i not sugar-coat the answer enough... was it too difficult to read... did they just not like me... man, i have to be overreacting... anyway my feet hurt and i need a drink...

You're definitely not alone.  Its happen to me before. At least twice.....

Your post is a great example of what I meant by popularity contest and why I'm still salty.

A lot of boards are very cliquish.  I get that at times.  I can post something like LL said and not much of anything.  And then someone can say the exact same thing and then BAMMMMMM!  It is blowing up all over the place.  It happens to quite a few people I would imagine.

I disagree.  I think loc care is just as much work as taking care of loose hair.  Loced hair isnt necessarily the easy way out.

Hmmm, I don't know.  I can never say that any hair is easy, but I do believe it is easier.  Everyone in my family is either dreaded or relaxed.  The only natural ones are those that are bi-racial.  And my mother has been dreaded for about 5 years now.  And she washes/conditions her locks about once or twice a week.  Add a moisturizer and put it in a ponytail.  No combing, brushing, or detangling necessary.  Then once a month she does a deep treatment, and twist the new hair into her locks.  That is the most that she has to do to her hair on a monthly basis.  Everyone is different, but my other relatives have about the same type of regimen.  Some are little more involved than others.  But I still think it is easier than what we do to our natural loose hair.

It is just less fuss to deal with on a daily basis IMO.  Less likely to be a product junkie and so forth.

I think the repeated question I have in my head is about females being gangsta on line and especially about her. I know women can be emotional but neva neva neva will I actually fight with another woman about what shes does to her hair or if shes natural for whatever different reasons. I am so happy that Bull Ish doents go on here!  :) but for real tho women gotta cut that ish out!

I dont understand why some chicas can send me a message saying to check out their photos and they dont have a gbook or comment feautures..hmmmm intresting.

That happens a lot to me on other boards, this is the last hair board I have joined but the one I spend the most time on, Not because I thrive off the fact that people respond to me but the first thing I noticed after my first day here was the fact that everyone's posts get responded to, whether you have 7800 posts or one.
there is none of that bullshit here.
I can't stand that sheep mentality, it's like people will read your post but no one says anything, but once a vet. comes along and says the exact same thing all these sheep come out of the wood work talking about " girl you so funny"  "you know thats right" So I just don't bother much with other boards.
It's not a popularity competition to me, so they can keep all that bullshit, I'll just stay over here  ;D

Different reasons for different folks. The three most common reasons I hear:
1. It's the next level of natural--the nappy grail, so to speak.
2. It's easier to deal with than loose (meaning that you don't have to figure out styles all the time and focus so much on the right products, etc.). My mom probably falls into this category--she never had loose naps, jumped from a texturizer right into locs.
3. They want long hair and/or hair that grows down instead of out.

 @ "nappy grail," but ITA w you!

ITA w this too.  I'm not condoning that behavior, but it makes sense.   People are drawn to certain type of personalities...and it may not be so much "kissing the ass of the popular person" as it is being able to identify with the way someone expresses herself.  For instance, Afrocurls' personality is alot my own so if she posts, I'm reading b/c I can relate to the way she speaks (writes).

Now, I'm not gonna act like cliques don't exist and people don't kiss ass, but I think lots of times it's the way you express yourself moreso than your popularity.

you know I was thinking the same way, but I had wanted to get locs myself and people are talking me out of it.   I just love the way that they look.  I see many people have great creative styles and lengths.  I am sure they are just as much work as natural hair.  I went for a consultation and it does seem just as intense as natural hair.  I still might do it not sure when. :)
