Donna Marie Honey and Aloe Jelly
« on: June 06, 2009, 10:54:35 PM »
I've seen some posts on NC about this, but i was wondering if any of you have tried it. I have a bottle of it, but i'm not quite sure on the best way to use it.

I have a bottle too Drugz and to tell you the truth, there really isn't a way to make it work, it's just not a good product.  I mean, it's not bad...it's just OK.  I've gotten the okayest (lol) results using a glycerine spray before applying b/c using a regular leave in makes it dry dull.

I really wanted to like it b/c the ingredients are so inviting...but I get better results with curl activator gel.

I think Donna Marie is going through some changes. On the site, that Aloe Jelly product is not even offered for sale anymore, and some of the other products have been removed or name changed.

The Coco Curly Butter that was the most popular and the Hemp Butter is now gone and replaced with a product named "Miracurl Curling Jelly"  and a "hemp buttermilk" and there's a new deep conditioner coming out. At first there were only a few products presented, then an explosion of new products, and now it seems like a scale down and reshuffling. Who knows.....

I liked most of the products I tried (loved the Coco Curly Butter), but I feel like there was a need for improvement in the texture and stabilization of the formulas. My Coco Butter would always strangely turn to water about 2 weeks after opening the jar.

I've only tried the Aloe Jelly, but I agree.  What makes that particular product so hard to work with is its lack of texture.  It's like water with little matter beads inside.  Shaking it up doesn't help.

I say use it before it goes bad. LOL.

You can always try it and if it does not work, mix it with some real Aloe Vera gel (like Lily of the Desert), glycerin, and water to make a moisturizing mist.

the only people that I've seen really rave over her products were the 2a/b and 3a/b chicks over on NC.  Actually, they LOVE her stuff...but she pissed a LOT of them off when she removed a lot of the products...so I'm interested to see how she fairs once she reopens.  I must say, that cocohemp buttermilk stuff looks REALLY good....my hair LOVES cocobutter but not to many companies use it.
extremely thick, kinky, coils and curls that have a mind of thier own.
