So....I've been using Karens Body Beautful Hair Milk for the past few months and I really like it for certain things. Here's the break down
PROs: 1. Good lightweight leave in...defines curls/coils
2. A bunch of different scents to pick from, and smells really good
3. Ingredients are all natural, no complex big chemistry words to look up
4. Good for layering products, works well with a lot of stuff from butters to gels.
5. Has a decent amount of slip, which makes it easier to work into the hair.
6. Karen's website always has a sale or promotion going on.
CONs: 1. While I like the product, it is majorly over priced for the ingredients used to make it. It's basicly glycerine, a few other conditioning agents and hebal infused water. An 8oz bottle is $16 (which is $2 an OUNCE) and an 16oz bottle retails for $24 (which is $1.50 an OUNCE). I only purchase during the B2G1 free sale so the sale price is $32 for 3 8oz bottles, which makes it $1.33 per oz.
2. Shipping can be kinda slow. I ordered during her B2G1 Free sale and it took me almost 3 weeks to get my products.
3. Can be a bit TOO light, so I wouldn't use this during the winter months, but its good for summer
I tried a bottle of the Hair Necter, but I didn't like it. The ingredients are almost identical as the milk, but the necter is supposed to be for finer hair. I know that there is less glycerine in the necter vs the milk...but I just didn't care for it.
The super silky is the glycerine free version of the milk. I really like this product for use on refreshing dry hair (twists and twist outs). When I add to my dry twists, and seal with a butter (Afroveda Totally Twisted), my hair looks soooo good! Since it's glycerine free, I can totally see this working for those that don't like glycerine or even in the winter time in slightly warmer climates. I think its too light if you live anywhere near some snow...but layering it with a heavier leave in will fix that (and also increase the slip factor making it easier to apply.
I like the products (hair milk and Super Silky) and will continue to use them, BUT, I will only repurchase when there is a good sale that makes it worthwhile.
