Okay, the bottom line is I'm not buying anything that costs more than $20 that isn't in a liter bottle...So, I'm mixing up cheaper stuff to get similar results.  I think in '07 I posted about how you can mix IC gel with curl activator gel and get KCCC-like results.  Today I got even better results and I only had to use 2 things, gel and water.

I rinsed out a Jergens bottle (the big one with a pump), and spooned a few tablespoons of clear IC gel into it.  That was taking too long so in a measuring cup, I added 1/2 cup of IC gel and 1/2 cup water, mixed, and poured it into the bottle.  I added more water and shook until I got the loose consistency I was looking for.

After co-washing and conditioning, I pumped the diluted gel into my hands and worked it through sections of hair.  My hair looks the exact same way it does with KCCC, no bullshit.

So if you want KCCC results without the KCCC price tag, get a jar of IC gel and mix it with cold water.  Your hair won't know the difference ;)

Using CAG and holding gel are exactly the reason why I have yet to try KCCC. All the pictures I've seen of ladies with similar curl types to mine using KCCC, looks exactly like my hair with CAG+gel (or just CAG for that matter).

I think I am going to try mixing the 2 again. I have been just using CAG lately because I thought that mixing the two was drying my hair out. Although I am finding that CAG (w/ leave-in+oil) does not have enough hold for the summer, and just holding gel (w/ leave-in+oil) was too drying. Now that I am using oil, hopefully I will be able to keep the 2 together from drying my hair out.

The IC and water combo sounds so easy to apply too. I will try that too.

That's been my issue too.  I had to really check myself on this matter b/c my hair looks the same no matter what I use, so why was I so hung up on this product?  I felt KCCC had more nourishing ingredients....But when it's all said and done, KCCC is just a botanically infused aloe vera gel.

But yeah, adding water to IC makes it much easier to apply.  The thickness of IC has always been my issue with it, but the water really helps.

Clear.  I really like the blue one too.  The green one is a hot mess.

My hair laughed at the IC gel.  It did absolutely nothing for me.  I replaced KCCC with ecostyler clear. Great definition minus the white hair in the mornings.  Plus it doesn't take forever and a day to dry.  With the ecostyler clear... what I see wet is what I get dry.  I am a happy camper.  ;D
BC: BSL locs/shaved head 1-19-09; enjoyed my loc journey but time 4 change LOIS - (OS) O w/loose S in crown; cottony

Holy Grails: Ecostyler clear (replaced KCCC), ayurvedic herbs, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Trader Joe's Nourish Spa, Tigi Catwalk & Moisture Maniac Condish

I forgot that I was supposed to post pics of the kccc vs ic styled hair.  Next time I use IC, I'll be sure to post a pic!
