Is my hair healthy or is it product overload???
« on: June 29, 2009, 12:42:32 PM »
Is it possible for CAGs or product overload to cause your hair to look and feel healthy, well moisturized and soft when it actually crying for help??? I was wondering because my hair feel great and I was just wondering if is it because of the products I used or am I finally starting to understand my hair.

Another question... When you all had TWAs, did you comb your hair or did you finger comb. Over the weekend I did the banding method (can't remember why) and I didn't use a comb and my hair feels great over all, especially my ends. My hair had a little curl to them but most of that went away once I started to manipulate my hair but overall I was please will my hair.
LOVING MY HAIR!

I have actually been wondering the same thing about my hair, although I don't know if anyone can answer this for us. It's like it takes a very deliberate set of steps and products to make my hair feel soft and moisturized once it's dry. And yet I see so many people go leave-in only or leave-in+oil and they say their hair feels great.

Is your hair really dry if you can't get away with minimal products? I just don't know... But it seems like some of those same leave-in only people moisturize or spritz daily, and I can't really do that because my hair doesn't really like products on dry hair. I do put a lot of stuff on my hair when I wash, but yet my moisture level lasts for days.

I think whether or not your hair feels soft depends on texture.  Coarse hair will never feel soft to the touch...it'll always feel wiry/plasticy.  Cottony hair almost always feels soft, even if it's parched.  Spongy hair usually feels soft too.  Thready hair, not so much.

I think the best philosophy to adopt is to do what works for you.

I can't do leave in and go....its just not going to happen.  My hair will laugh at me as it turns into dust.

If it takes 3 products, then use all three!

DO YOU...remember that
extremely thick, kinky, coils and curls that have a mind of thier own.

I like your avatar pic, Nappy.

I guess my feeling is like "who cares?" As long as it's behaving and not breaking, I don't question it.  ;D

Well hello Ms. SL5000  :D

Ya'll are right... who cares. I've gotten a small amount of flack for the amount of stuff I put on my hair, but it looks good, it's soft and it's growing.

My hair is coarse and thready. Without immediately applying products, it dries in minutes after getting out of the shower. That is why it takes so much to make my hair feel soft.

My hair will laugh at me as it turns into dust.

Thanks you all for replying! I am glad I'm not the only one wondering this. With all the above said I have one more question...

I know that gels can be damaging to one's strands... so my question is are CAGs bad for your hair for example World of Curls! My hair loves it but I was wondering if it would do the same to my hair as other gels?
