Somebody wrote a pem for the "Lacefront Baby:"

Dear Lord,
I’m saying this prayer to you today,
Please help me get away.
The parents you gave [me] were rejected by you,
I came out the womb with no clue.
You created me grand,
Tiny and precious and not in command.
These pictures will live in infamy,
A pretty baby made to look ugly.
My mommy and daddy are too stupid to know,
That my hair will eventually grow.
Dear Lord, Please help me leave.
My idiot parents gave me a weave.

Not in my opinion.  I think blogs/fotki/youtube are more like suplemental material to the hair boards.  Most bloggers (myself included) blog about what has worked for them...but as we all know everything doesn't work for everyone.  For me, I like reading what other people are doing...which usually sparks an "ah ha" moment for me.  Not to mention, there can be a sense of community and familial support that makes the boards great.

Love the hair "ah ha moments"  Couldn't manage my hair without the blogs and boards.

Regarding KynkyMarine's last quote:

That makes me glad that I'm a civilian. I can do this  :afro: with no problems.
Makes me wonder, does the other four have regulations like the Marines?

Okay it's not really rhetorical just something that I don't expect most folks to dignify with an response.   It seems to me that more and more women are giving up relaxers with the expectationthat their hair will automatically be a lot longer w/o the perm..... when some of these women don't see the length they crave they loc up because then their hair  has no choice but to become "long".

I think a lot of people I know think that there's some sort of "stigma" attached to having "short hair". What, is that an undesirable feature or something??
"yeah, her hair is pretty, but it's short, I wonder if she'll grow it out some more". That kinda thing gets on my fast luckin' nerves. I know some people that still associate short hair with the male gender. I heard one person tell me (when I had my TWA) that if I wasn't wearing earrings that day, I'd look like a boy. I retorted,
"As long as I have this" (referring to my 38C bust)
"and this" (pointing at my natural black)
"I could NEVER look like a boy."

And all he could do was look and grin, of course.

Some people look  really good with short hair, Long hair ain't for everyone especially when the ends are all thin, broken off but they're hanging on to it cause it's "long" .

Some of the African ladies I work with look so much better and their feature really stand out when they take off all the fake hair they wear  and rock their natural short hair.
it is sad though that we as women are conditioned to believe Long hair = beautiful and          short hair = lesbian or ugly.

Am I  the only one who wants to take scissors to people's hair when they have braids and one of them is hanging on by one strand of hair ?.... sometimes I can't concentrate when I'm talking to someone and see a braid dangling by one stand of hair and start imagining myself cutting it off

LOL. No, you are not alone in that. How about when you see someone with extensions they had glued in maybe a month before
('cuz that's what it looks like)
have enough nerve to pull hair back in a ponytail without even TRYING to slick down the new growth, making those bumpy tracks SOOO DAMN OBVIOUS??? I mean, how weird is that? I saw it on the train the other day. Gotta love public transportation sometimes. Makes you interact with some interesting looking people.

Rhetorical question: How many women loc up so that they can have long "straight" hair?

A whopping majority!  and for this very reason:
It seems to me that more and more women are giving up relaxers with the expectationthat their hair will automatically be a lot longer w/o the perm..... when some of these women don't see the length they crave they loc up because then their hair  has no choice but to become "long".

and don't forget that when some ladies don't get the perfect "3c" hair they're looking for, having "out" hair isn't as desirable and locs become the style of choice.  Plenty women have locs out of frustration for what their loose hair won't do.

Ladies, I'm waiting patiently for my lil' sis to transition for more than a month, then BCing. As soon as I think she's close to chopping the perm off, she reverts back to the relaxer. I noticed tonight that she had been looking at some transition and natural (inspirational) videos on youtube. I hope that gives her more inspiration, b/c apparently I don't do it for her. But as soon as she does BC, whenever that is, I got a crapload of products waiting to be used. I bought so much stuff this year it ain't funny.
