i use mine right after i turn off the water in the shower... squish and scrunch the oil into my hair sparingly and then i plop.  less mess that way. ;)

I used to do it just like LadyLibra, but now I either do a hot oil treatment, applying the oil to hair that has been separated in large braids or plaits by soaking oil up with a cotton ball and squeezing the cotton ball on my hair.  Then I add shampoo BEFORE I wet hair. THis allows for more control of application and oil retention.  Then I rinse with water.  Or I apply it to my ends before bed and wear a plastic cap at night when I wear twists.  I generally just use it as needed all round.  I also sometimes add oils to conditioners or shampoos.

I just started using oil again. My hair was going through a phase where it wasn't tolerating it well. I usually mix it in with my leave in or styler if that's what I'm using that day. I always apply oil to wet hair.

Well I made a custom oil for my stylist to use on her clients to lightly rub on their scalps prior styling. But for me personally, I never benefited from oils, my hair would just suck it right up. But I would that Jojoba oil and olive oil combination may work for thick dry hair.

I would use the oil at night due to allowing the hair to penetrate it. Or you can mix with your conditioner and rinse out.

I usually add a lil bit of olive oil in my conditioner for co-washes. I also use it in my leave-ins. I make my own concoction water/olive oil/and Tui leave-in in a spray bottle and mist my hair with it through out the day if I'm wearing a wash-n-go or just once in the morning and once at night if I have twists, braids, cornrows etc. I currntly replaced the TUI with Infusium23 because I ran out and needed to improvise. This method obsorbs well into the hair with out that oily mess every wear. Hope this helps  ;)

I've been using a little castor oil in my cond wash and a mixture of oils (hot six and/or olive oil) in my leave-ins and styler concotions.

My hair wasnt' feeling the oil (except in deep treatments) until recent months. Now, I'm really loving oils.

Do you think the reason your hair is responding well to them now is because of any changes in length/health?

Also, before when it did not absorb well was it a case of it simply feeling greasy and sitting on the shaft, or did it make your hair feel stiff and rubbery, too? TIA

Me too!  Only I don't use Infusium, but Elucence.  For twists, I apply it directly.

After I co-wash, or wash or really whenever I style my hair. If my hair is wet, I towel dry and then put on my hair lotion and then put the oil on my hair. I usually put a lot because my hair is pretty dry.

During the winter months (& when I can remember) I like to use oils on my scalp only (usually Wild Growth, Hot 6 or Jojoba). Oils do absolutely nothing for my hair (during the winter).  My hair will soak up the oil then look for more  :-\
