Before Miss Jessie's: Bubble-up & BBD Glass
« on: October 13, 2009, 11:55:16 PM »
Does anyone remember these products way before there were Miss Jessie's puddings and stuff?.........circa year 2000 on the old hairboards (like blackhairmedia.com).

Bubble Up - a weird old-school type hair company sold this stuff for $9.99. Natural kinky-curlies (who were few and far between) raved about it, but it's ingredients were a mystery..... You are not allowed to view links.Register or Login

BBD Glass Curling Creme - I used to think it was crazy to spend $35.00 on a 16oz jar of product back then...but ladies raved about this too. Supposedly this is what they used to use in the Miss Jessie's Curve Salon in Brooklyn before they developed their own product. You are not allowed to view links.Register or Login

We have so many more product options these days, but at one time these were so "revolutionary". LOL!

I never heard of the Bubble Up stuff but I do remember the BBD glass and BBD stretch cremes.  I was curious about the BBD products but never got around to ordering.  I think it had a lot to do with not knowing what was in them and the price.  I don't hear much about them now though.

I remember all of them, but I really wanted to try the BBD stuff.  I couldn't get with the prices and back then, I refused to buy stuff online.  But back in the day, you'd here those names thrown around like you hear Kinky Curly and Blended Beauty today.

Actually, BBD Glass used to be $19 back in the day.  It was the BBD Stretch Creme that use to be $35.  Never tried the Glass, but I swear by the Stretch Creme.  It's great as a leave-in too.

The Bubble Up was garbage.  You could get the same results from mixing setting lotion with a hair creme.

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

I tried them both back in the day.  :-[ No matter how much/little I used, no matter what leave in I used underneath, I ended up with crispy, ramen noodle looking hair.
