Hey fellow bouncy-stranded individuals!!! I found a fruit cocktail conditioning
treatment masque made in Brazil by Skala. 10.6 oz for $1.00
at BigLots. Yeahhhh. I brushed the other 7 containers
off the shelf, into my basket. Got a couple of their
shampoos. One is aloe vera (for curly hair), the other
avocado (for dry, coarse hair, but smells like apples). 11.8 oz,
also for $1 each.
The website is skalabeauty.com.
I have my hair done in double-stranded twists right now. I can't wait for wash
day (Monday) so I can try these products!!!!
On a side note, the ingredients for the conditioning treatment masque are:
Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Petrolatum, Methylchloroisothiazolinone (and) Methylisothiazolinone, Citric Acid, Fragrance, FD&C Yellow #5, Acid Red #18, Mica, Titanium Dioxide.
For the Avocado Shampoo, the ingredients are:
Water, Sodium Laureth-2 Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Laureth Sulfate (and) Glycol Stearate, Ammonium Chloride, Polyquaternium 44, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Avocado Fruit Extract, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Yellow #5

I never tried the skala conditioners due to the petrolatum, but I'm a big fan of the leave ins. I posted a thread about them a while back and other posters mentioned some other South American products that worked for them. I was really amazed by the HUGE range of products they have specifically for dry and curly hair- the different hair types they describe are mostly synonyms of one another "dry hair", "parched hair", "brittle hair" and so on.
My favorite leave ins are the avocado and aloe versions. They came out with a chocolate one which I just saw and somehow managed to resist buying. The only problem with their stuff is, being a product for tropical climes, they lack the extra oomph my hair needs for harsher winters.
Here's the other thread:

Thanks for the thread, jeamaria!
Think I'll check out the avocado leave-in.
