Afroveda Price Increase
« on: February 03, 2010, 01:45:32 PM »
All Afroveda's modestly priced products have gone up!  The $9.00 butters are now $12.50, $14.00 sizes are now $18.50, and the $24.00 jars are now $28.50.  I'm so happy I have big jars of the Cocolatte Mask and Curly Custard b/c I certainly won't be purchasing anything in the future.  With her shipping fees, an 8oz container comes to $20 and a couple years ago I promised myself to never spend $20+ on products less than 33.8 oz.

Quality products at recession friendly prices, I knew it wouldn't last forever! :'(

Yeah, it really sucks :pout:
The only way I'll continue to order from her now, is if her shipping and email response times get a hellua lot better.  Well see....

I have been eyeing Afroveda. How long is the shipping time? How do you like the butters? Can they be used on wet and dry hair? I heard curlmart.com might start carrying their products.

The shipping time along w/ poor customer communications sucks in my opinion.  :annoyed:
I placed an order on January 18th, and it just shipped today February 9th  >:( and that's only because I emailed her twice, once w/ an angry email. So you do the math... ::)

Since my hair can take almost anything.... I'm not too thrilled w/ the Shea Amla, will see about the CocoLatte & Hempseed Lock & Twist butter when it comes; if you patient then order it from Afroveda, but if not, then wait until Curl Mart carries it.

Also, there's another new start up online vendor Monique at GoodHairMart who's a member here aka (coilskinkscurls), that carries a few of the popular natural hair care lines.  If I order anything else Afroveda, I'll get from Curl Mart or GoodHairMart. I'll post the link below:

Either way good luck!!!  ;D

The shipping time is a pain.  Each time I've ordered, the wait was 7-10 days.  That's not so much of a problem for me as the cost of shipping, which is pretty high.  I've been selling/swapping products online for years so I know how much it costs to ship certain weights, that's why I can say for sure that her shipping fees are high.  For the amount charged, you'd expect more prompt service...but that's the chance you take when you shop with a small and/or new business.   ::)

Her butters are awesome.  The two I use (Curly Custard and Cocolatte Moisture Mask) have great consistency, perfect amount of oils, and moisturize and seal in one step.  Not to mention they are packed into the jars pretty generously and are very concentrated.  They work well on wet, dry, or damp hair.  Her butters are the best I've tried, hands down.

News about this price increase sucks. Thank goodness I had already purchased the 32 oz. Curly Custard, Shea Amla and Ginger Almond butters at their original prices.

Thanks for the responses. I think I might pass for now. I cannot stand poor communications. I might reconsider later..plus I  need to use up the products I have now

I don't love Afroveda, and now hearing that her prices have gone up! Eh...nope! I will stick with Hairveda. Her shipping times are HORRIBLE TOO! BUT her customer service skills are on point. BJ is on it with her communications. Email, Facebook, and the Forums she set up!

I may try Afroveda again when my stash is really over flowing just to have it... but um I am not impressed with her products (I haven't figured out how to use them (as they make my hair hard) probably using too much) or shipping time. She needs to think about having a shipping sale. Like all products ship for FREE! LOL Fat chance I know.....

  @ GMW!

Ladies, don't forget about online swap boards.  You can really come up with those.  and ITA about the free shipping.
