TEXTURIZER
« on: March 29, 2010, 10:53:24 AM »
I put a texturizer in my natural hair, messed it up, very dry. Anybody know what I can do?

I know next to nothing about texturizers, but what do you mean when you say you messed it up.  Are deep conditioners not working?

Moisturize, moisturize, MOISTURIZE until the texturizer grows out, and continue to moisturize afterwards. Protective styles will help alot  while you grow out the hair you "messed up". How bad did you "mess it up" anyway?

The texturizer made some parts of my hair kind of straight, and very very extremely dry.   I do a deep condition/rinse, when it's wet it feels soft, but once my hair dries, it's dry, brittle, and hard.  What kind of Moisturizers you all think that I should use?  Please help me through this transition.

Go through your product stash and see what you have that was working before you put the texturizer in. You want you hair to absorb as much as it can.  My fave butters right now that I think would counteract the dryness of texturized hair are hairveda's Green Tea Butter, afroveda's Totally Twisted ginger almond, Shea Amla butters and Curly Custard, Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Cream Conditioner.

How about cutting the texturizer out and starting over?  That's the best way the ensure healthy hair fast!  I wish I could tell you otherwise, but as long as your hair has been chemically treated, it's never gonna look or feel the way it did when it was fully natural.  If cutting isn't an option, protective styles until you're comfortable cutting may be a good option.  Good Luck!
