I want to CRY!
« on: March 28, 2010, 11:29:41 PM »
I am so upset! Like a fool, I put glycerin on my hair and then diffused- I wasn't thinking. Guys I want to cry! :'(

Glycerin on my hair and heat does not mix. I can't believe I got heat damage from diffusing!

I forgot that I put glycerin in my hair when I picked out my fro. I wanted to diffuse so that I could get a good shape, because it's cut in a bob and would have looked awkward if I would ave let it dry naturally.

I've been conditioning like crazy with Aubrey Organics GPB but after my hair dries my ends are screaming at me. I worked so hard and achieved healthy hair. I just recently clipped my ends. I refuse to cut it.

But it's not just my ends, my hair in general is BIG and BUSHY. I don't have BIG and BUSHY hair. I have clumps and clumps of curls and coils.  :'(

What should I do...I'm really upset >:(

Please help me out guys...

My hair is a big frizz mess! My ends are unbelievable

How long has it been this way?  Sometimes it can take a week or more for your hair to recover from the shock.  It might mean a lot of deep conditioning for a while.

Well one thing I have figured out is tat Aubrey Organics GPB makes my hair frizzy. So I'll be using another deep conditioner. I need more moisture.

I used aloe vera juice in the past for moisture and am thinking about trying it again. Does anyone else recommend a natural super moisturizing conditioner?

Give it some time. If your hair is not poker straight after washing repeatedly, chances are it will go back. Generally not as quick as 3 days. Just give it some time. DT are key. I have rescued my daughters hair from heat damage, and had to cut my own hair after realizing there was no help. In both cases it took some time.

Diffusing just dries your hair (eliminating the frizz with the use of an attachment). I wasn't attempting to straighten it. So, my curls reverted I just have major frizz and the tangles are ridiculous.

It was better today though. I used Giovanni L. A. Gel and it helped my curls clump together, but I still had a lot of frizz  :(

Sorry about your hair Vegan@Genesis.  Try clarifying first, then try Giovanni 50/50 conditioner with a little oil added and leave it on at least an hour.  If you want something that's already in your home, 2 egg yolks and some olive oil will do the trick and an acv rinse may smooth the frizzies too.  Good Luck!

Thanks Jazzi, I did clarify (hair felt horrible but not too bad) then I used Giovanni SMS for a few days. I went out of town so I got Giovanni Nutrafix and it has help too. My curls definite is almost all the way back. My ends are curling but it's my hair closer to the roots that are really frizzy.

My coils are beginning to clump together again. Overall my hair looks like it's almost back to normal. My hair tangles ridiculously if I don't use Palmer's Coconut Replenishing Hair Milk so I'll be using it weekly.

Thanks for all your help guys!

Thanks Lisa6 it's almost back. I think I need to clip my ends again-that would probably help the ragged ends feel

I had to take off almost an inch  :'( which was all my growth. They were horrible. They were extremely dry, brittle, and split. I'm wearing nothing but protective styles for a long time now.

After the cut my hair was fabulous! It looks so lively and feels so good! My poor hair. Oh well, I've learned my lesson about trimming. Which I will do regularly now (every 6-8 weeks). I remember back in my relaxed days, I trimmed and my hair grew beautifully. So, I know trimming my hair properly will not hold me back from reaching my length goals. This will be my last chop for a very long time.

Thanks guys!
