I guess since I've done twists twice in the past few weeks, I'm in.

Started PS: January 7
Products used: Abaze loc butter, Curl MS (tiny bit), My Honey Child Sophia Hair Grease to finish
Extras: I don't wear my twists down, so I can get a 4 days to a week out of them, I think
Wash and redo: I'll wear a twistout for 2 days afterward (SO loves the TO) then I'll redo, so I'll probably redo them this Sunday.

I tried to twist on almost dry hair this time, since the wet twists really look stringy.

Photos of my twists are in my album.

Thanks Keepitmovin, I am going to try doing the twists on damp/dry hair, tonight.  I'm not overly concerned with the shrinkage, I just want them to be decent enough not to cover them.   :-[   I am looking forward to doing my hair now, that's a first.  I can't thank you ladies enough  :)

The front of my hair has been annoying me so much during this challenge. It just keeps unravelling, no matter what I do with it. I've had to redo it several times, and sometimes I twisted it too tight. so I can't say it's really been experiencing any protective care. In contrast, the back has been holding up well; days of beautiful twists followed by days of my best twist out ever! It's still going strong today. I think from now on, I will keep the front or at least part of it cornrowed or flat twisted. That way it's neither in my face all the time or unravelling 24-7. Plus I think it suits my face better that way.

@sweetpie...CONGRATS! Glad you're liking your twists woman!

@jeamaria...that's why I'm flat twisting in the front too...it keeps coming undone

I'm sitting under the dryer now to speed along the drying process so I can get to twistin'.

As you know I am new to this and I plan on doing my daughter's hair this week. I want to pre-condition the head and then maybe wash and condition and flat twist while it is damp.

Now that is my plan (in my mind), but I need a little (hands-on)guidance...any suggestions. Many of the products that you all discuss are not available her so can you name some general products which you would recommend?

I have heard avoid the wax, but we do not have the Angie butter...suggestions?

Thanks ladies

Can you get shea butter, organics carrot oil, fantasia ic gel, jane carter, or anything like that?  Do you have a Whole Foods or any health food chain?

I am still trying to be as good as I can by wearing my hair in more protective styles this Winter Season, but I have to admit there have been a few days where I got tired of wearing my hair back and did wear it down for a couple of days already. But on the days that I did wear my hair down it was during warmer days though and not during the freezing cold.
