I wear protective styles 5 days per week.  Usually I'm wearing buns or cutesy updo's that hides my ends. Been doing this fairly consistently for yrs!  It's been working GREAT at retaining my length  :)

Ok, I went to the BSS and got everything I think I may need for the challenge. I'm in. I cowashed on Sunday and put my hair in twists and put a scarf on my head.  I can leave these twists in (covered) until I get back down to Maryland.  I've been in NJ visiting family, so they are used to me looking crazy.  I think I can do this...

Ok...so this is going into week 3 of the protective hair challenge and into week 2 with the current set of twists I have in (I did them christmas day).  I think I'm going to conditon wash the twists and set them on rods (I did this for new years eve and it was a hit)....so that I can get another week out of the twists.  So by the end of the week......I can just rock a twist out and then wash, deep condition, and retwist!
extremely thick, kinky, coils and curls that have a mind of thier own.

I'm doing teeny tiny twists now. I have the front finished, now I have the back. :( Wish me luck!

Went home for a couple of days to visit the parents. Trying to find a place that sells essential oils to make my braid/hair spray.

I will be on it soon.  I am just not looking forward to spending 12 hours doing my own hair and I refuse to pay anyone to braid my hair.  May-be I will start on it tonight.

Well shoot i'm in too, i usually keep my hair in protective styles but i'll slip up once in a while. I just cut some more of the relaxer out so to make sure my fresh ends don't become too ragged i'll be bunning or braiding.

I’ve been in the challenge for a few days now, wearing twists & a twist out. Lazily, I styled it over 3 days and I’m so enjoying the ease of how my hair is ready-made everyday, no raking through leave in and brushes and combs. Actually, last night, I re-twisted a small section upfront (part of the twist-out) I hope that’s not a challenge violation! But the rest is intact. What I was amazed at was how much my hair crept up everyday, even after they did their first, major shrinking business, I thought that was it; it’s been sooo long since I wore twists, I guess I forgot.  So many new things!  :excited:

I hadn’t given much thought to spritzing daily, I used to consider my twisted hair as “put away” till I took it down and washed it, but I think I’ll be doing some regular moisturization this time around. I noticed my twists curled up and swelled up and softened in the shower; wonder if that counts as hydration.  :-\ I’m so happy this thread was started, or I never would have thought to put twists back in my hair, or asked my sister what I should do with my hair for NYE, I would have never had this style, a new staple! ;D

Jemaria, I had to retwist the front last night (individuals and then flat twisted those) , so I may be a violator too...LOL.  What I have noticed, is that last night, I tied a scrunchie around the twists and then tied them down.  That helped with shrinkage in a big way.  They are actually hanging today.  ;D

My first REAL test is tonight. I'm going to the gym and we shall see if I can manage to clean my head without water.

Your twists look so good, all thick and beautiful and junk. *pouts* Does this mean you updated your album?

The picture is slightly deceptive.  My hair is pretty fine and there are spots that you can see my scalp.  On the whole I like how it came out, but I have some ideas on how to make it better next time.
Your last message shamed me so I did update my experiments folder, but the pictures of my twists aren't uploading for some reason.  I'll try again tomorrow.

Those are cute and its grown so much! @ Pixie

Ladies, I have a lil tip...the longer you go without wetting, the longer the twists last/better they look.  I didn't spritz/wet the first 3 days, but did today.  So on day 4, I have the look I usually get on day 2.  That's at least 3 days added!  ;)
